Empowering Vietnamese Youth Through Education
Ban Khuyen Hoc (BKH), also known as the Calgary Vietnamese Association for the Encouragement of Learning (CVAEL), is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to reducing barriers to education for students of Vietnamese descent. Through two key programs—free tutoring and scholarships—we aim to empower Vietnamese youth by providing meaningful academic support. Our mission is to deliver educational assistance to both Canadian- and foreign-born Vietnamese students, offering the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. In addition to academic support, we foster cultural understanding and intergenerational connections within the Vietnamese community, and between Vietnamese and Canadian cultures.
We also strive to create a welcoming space for learning, connection, and community involvement. BKH provides a center for activities that reflect our commitment to education and cultural integration. By recognizing academic excellence through scholarships and providing tutoring that meets students where they are, we’re helping shape a brighter future. Our work is made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers, and we’re always looking for passionate individuals to join us. If you’re interested in supporting our mission or getting involved, we’d love to hear from you.
